Solar Home
The conceptual design shown here was created by Drexel University student Michael Magee using actual dimensions and guidelines required for the Keystone Energy Technology Enterprise Center/Drexel green house in Mount Carmel, PA.
The house incorporates many green designs such as passive solar, to help heat the house with the sun, a solar PV(Photovoltaic) system to provide electricity, solar thermal to help heat water, and a rainwater harvesting system that provides water for the house for flushing toilets and irrigation. Everything used in the house such as lights, appliances etc. will be Energy Star qualified to assure highest efficiency. All materials will consist of recycled or renewable material sourced locally. Informational plaques will be placed throughout the house to explain the different kinds of systems for educational purposes for tours that will be available. Drexel students will be among the first tenants to occupy the house. For more information about KETEC, please visit ketec.us.
